Its finally ready!! I just sent off my final set of files to print today. I’ve included the book cover in its full panoramic view for everyone. This is always a really exciting time and I can’t wait to get this out to everyone. I can’t begin to tell you how much fun I had writing this particular book. There are so many fun story lines happening and I think you’ll like seeing how they begin to bring things together. If you are in the Charleston area, come on out and see me July 21st at Two Blokes Brewery where we’ll be launching the book release. Happy Reading!
So I’ve been dabbling around a bit more in the old photo editing software (GIMP for those that are curious) and decided it was a good time to upgrade the cover for The Expansion Project.
Why is it a good time you ask? That is because the sequel is getting quite close to being complete. Who knows, a pre-sale may pop up some time fairly soon. Of course, that means I’ll have to go design a cover for that. Hmmmm…. back to work then.
I hope you like the design and enjoy the story. Much more on its way to everyone soon.
Sorry for the long stretch. Between holidays and family stuff and a bunch of adulting, I haven’t been online much. I’m excited to say that my latest novel is still making its way around the globe. My good friend Krystal sent me this picture all the way from Africa! Always good to see the expansion continuing. The stories of the experience and the beauty of the country out there has made me extremely jealous of both her and my book.
So for those that have tuned in for updates, book II in the Expansion series is getting close to completion. I am in the final stages of editing. While I’ve been waiting on that, I’ve nearly completed a second edition of book along with a new cover. That’s right, some more fun digital art coming your way. Also, I am several chapters into book III already. So hang tight for just a short bit longer, and there will be some more action and adventure coming your way. There has been some great feedback from the beta readers and I’m getting very excited to share the story with everyone!
So I’m a little slow on my posting these days. Fall seems to be an insanely busy time of year with my oldest in school and taking on all kinds of extra curricular activities. But no worries, all of the business has been for good things.
Speaking of…I got an awesome opportunity to go to Frothy Beard Brewing a couple weeks ago and hang out with the talented Arylias Nova and the legendary Falkor! Getting to meet other authors has been one of the biggest perks of this particular gig. Arylias has some awesome stories to share as well, so be sure to head over to Five Six Publishing for some good reading options.
Another thanks to the folks over at Frothy Beard for having us. Between having us there, the wresting events that they used to host at the old location, and of course the tasty beer, this has certainly become a repeat haunt for me. Happy Fall everyone!
Obviously I am a nerd. So yes, I am super excited about the eclipse. I am also incredibly lucky to live in the amazing Charleston, SC which happens to have one of the best views of the eclipse.
So what does a sci-fi writer super nerd do during an eclipse. The answer…Barn Jam. What…you ask? For those of you in the area, the awesome folks out at Awendaw Green normally host a Barn Jam on Wednesday nights. If haven’t gone before, make it a point. As if they weren’t awesome enough already, they will be hosing a Total Eclipse party this coming Monday. They are also allowing their neighbor, and friendly neighborhood science fiction author, to come out and set up a table for The Expansion Project.
Come on out and join the party!!
You mean I have to read…out loud? In front of people, actual humans? This of course was my first thought when Leah suggested the idea. Its not that I’m shy and for some odd reason I don’t really get stage fright (perhaps that comes from playing music for crowds for nearly 18 years). Something about just felt a little strange.
But whatever it was, I got over it quickly and decided to just jump in and see what happened. I have to admit, it was actually quite a bit of fun. It certainly helped when people laughed at the funny parts and clapped at the end.
Honestly though, the best part for me was getting to hang out with a couple other local authors, Leah Rhyne and Rob Favre. These are some very awesome people as well as very talented writers. It felt like we had known each other for years. Rob was even asked by his daughter if we knew each other beforehand, because we seemed like “bros”. I’m taking that as a good thing. Overall, it felt like it was a good start to building a little more culture around the local author scene here in Charleston. We’ve got so many talented people in our midst. I will certainly be looking to do more events with these two in the future.
In the meantime, don’t be scared to get off the NY Times Best Seller list and see what you’ve got right around the corner. Especially if you are looking for things that aren’t just a carbon copy of other best sellers.
Yes it is America weekend and in celebration of that, I am endorsing the word AND. A word so beloved by Americans that I feel it my patriotic duty to service it next weekend at a book reading/signing at Mr. K’s Bookstore in North Charleston. The event will include myself AND the mastress of horror/fiction/snarky humor Leah Rhyne AND the YA sci-fi extraordinaire Rob Favre. Come join us from 2 to 4pm for a great time!
